This fall at Cityview Bible Church we preached through the Old Testament book of Nehemiah. What a joy to read, study, and apply this book together! Rebuild the wall. Restore the nation. Renew the people. I have always benefited from Nehemiah in my private devotions, but preaching through the book brought greater appreciation and understanding.
The book's first half (chapters 1-7) details Nehemiah's courageous leadership to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem. The second half (chapters 8-13) covers the spiritual renewal of the people. As we prepare to enter a new year, what lessons can we learn from Nehemiah about how to experience ongoing spiritual renewal?
